Bangladesh national team on Sunday reached Chattogram ahead of their one-off Test series against Afghanistan, scheduled to start from September 5 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The Tigers will start their practice session today at the same venue from 10:00am to 1:00pm and will continue it until September 4.
Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan expressed his optimism of winning the Test match against Afghanistan and promised to give their 100 per cent effort in the field.
‘We will try to give our 100 per cent effort,’ Mehedi told reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport before departing for Chattogram.
‘We will have the privilege to play in our own soil and if we can give our best effort then we will have a good chance,’ he added.
Mehedi said they have had good training sessions in recent days and expected a positive result in the contest.
‘We all had good training. Everyone has worked hard for the last 10 to 12 days. The way everyone is working hard, we expect a good result,’ said Mehedi.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed, who could not feature in Bangladesh’s last Test series against New Zealand due to an ankle injury, was confident to give his best upon his selection in the XI.
‘As I got an opportunity, I will try to give my best,’ said Taskin.
‘I am very excited as I got the opportunity after some time. I seek everyone’s prayer so that I can do well if I get a chance to play,’ added Taskin, who has never played a Test in Bangladesh.
