Winning their third straight game in the Micromax Asia Cup T20 2016 against the defending champions Sri Lanka by five wickets on Tuesday, India have sealed their spot in the final. And now with the other spot to feature in the final still vacant, all Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be up for grabs to win the final berth and face India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on March 6. Now let’s take a look at the possible scenerios, reports bdcricteam.

Bangladesh:

Matches played: 3

Wins: 2

Points: 4

NRR: + 0.48

Matches remaining: 1 (against Pakistan)

If Bangladesh manage to pick up a win against Pakistan, they will end up with six points in the group stage and qualify for the final. But in case the Tigers lose against Shahid Afridi’s men on Wednesday, they will have to hope for Sri Lanka to beat Pakistan, which would leave three teams on equal points, and also hope that their net run-rate is higher than that of Pakistan and Sri Lanka

Pakistan:

Matches played: 2

Wins: 1

Points: 2

NRR: – 0.49

Matches remaining: 2 (against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka)

If Pakistan can somehow manage to end up on the winning side against Bangladesh, which is highly unlikely though, they while have four points to their name with one game remaining against Sri Lanka. And if the Green Shirts also manage to win that one, they will qualify for the final with six points. However a defeat against Bangladesh will not only erase Pakistan from the competition, but Sri Lanka too will be knocked out. A victory over the Tigers and a defeat to the Islanders will leave the Green Shirts tied on points with the other two teams and net run-rate will come into picture. Team having better net run-rate will get through to the final.

Sri Lanka:

Matches played: 3

Wins: 1

Points: 2

NRR: – 0.29

Matches remaining: 1 (against Pakistan)

Before concentrating on their own game, first they will have to count on the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match. If Bangladesh lose to to Pakistan, their final hope will remain alive. And then they have to beat Pakistan, that too by a big margin to ensure they have got better net run-rate than both Bangladesh and Pakistan.
