Mashrafe ton breaks domestic batting records


Kalabagan Krira Chakra skipper Mashrafe Mortaza hit his first century in List-A cricket smashing several domestic batting records in the ongoing Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.

Motaza, also captain of Bangladesh National Team`s limited-over side, took only 50 balls to reach his century at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah on Saturday.

This is the fastest century in Bangladesh List-A cricket history. The 32-year all-rounder also smashed eleven over-boundaries on his way to a superb 104 off 51 balls, which also a record in number of sixes in an individual innings.

Mashrafe came to bat as 6th batsman when his team lost 4 wickets for 169. He kept hitting the bowlers of Sheikh Jamal and completed his fifty off 35 balls. The Kalabaghan skipper collected his next 50 runs only off 15 balls. His innings also was garnished by two boundaries.


Mashrafe`s team Kalabagan Krira Chakra scored 316/7 against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club who chose to field first in the ongoing Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. They bowled out their opponents for 295 and won the match by 21 runs.

However, Kalabagan are in dismay as they only secured two victories in six matches they had played so far in the tournament.


Mashrafe was awarded the Man of the Match prize.
