Swedish ambassador to Bangladesh Johan Frisell on Tuesday visited the Hindu community in Nasirnagar upazila, where a group of miscreants carried out several attacks last year, reports UNB.
Frisell admired the role of the government and the law enforcing agencies for their attempt to control the situation after the attacks on the Hindu community.
He also exchanged his views with the leaders of Hindu Buddha Christian Oikya Parishad during his visit.
On October 30, a group of religious zealots carried out a synchronised attack on the Hindus, vandalising around 100 homes and temples and looting their valuables, including cash, gold ornaments and idols, television and mobile phones. The two-hour mayhem followed a Facebook post from the account of a local fisherman, “hurting the religious sentiment” of the Muslims.
