Samrat, Arman expelled from Juba League

Juba League Dhaka south unit president Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat and vice-president Enamul Haque Arman were suspended from their posts on Sunday hours after their arrest by Rapid Action Battalion.

‘Juba League central executive committee suspended the leaders for their involvement in unsocial and anti-party activities,’ JL central publicity and publications secretary Iqbal Mahmud Babul told reporters.

They were suspended following the prior announcement of the party chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury, he said.

A team of RAB arrested Samrat and his associate Arman from Chauddagram in Cumilla early Sunday.

On September 24, the government imposed a travel ban on Samrat.

In the past couple of weeks, law enforcing agencies launched a crackdown on illegal casinos, arrested dozens of ruling party leaders and activists and also raided 20 sporting and recreation clubs in the capital.
