Roads and Highways’ deputy secretary lands in jail

A Dhaka court on Monday sent the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) deputy secretary Mizanur Rahman to jail in connection with a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikdar passed the order when ACC assistant director Monirul Islam produced him before the court.

Earlier, the defence counsel submitted a bail petition before the court for his client but the court rejected the plea.

Earlier, a team led by ACC director Nasim Anwar conducted a raid at a city restaurant in Khilgaon and caught him red-handed while he was taking Tk 50,000 as bribe from a man around 9:00pm on Sunday.
