Premier University expels 16 students for life


The authority of Premier University has expelled 16 students, including Ibrahim alias Sohan, for life on charge of killing MBA student Nasim Ahmed Sohel on March 29.

At the same time, seven more students have been expelled temporarily and served show cause notice asking as to why they should not be expelled for life, said Premier University Proctor Ahmed Razib Chowdhury.

He also said the decision was taken after investigating the incident took place on the campus on March 29. All the expelled students but three are the students of Commerce Faculty.

Sohel was killed in an attack by a rival group of students on the campus on March 29 over conflict to hold  a freshers’ reception programme

Sohel’s father Abu Taher filed a case with Chwakbazar thana the following day accusing 16 students inncluding Sohel’s friend M Ibrahim alias Sohan.

Watching a video footage, police, later, identified Sohan who stabbed Sohel.

Varsity administration formed a probe body after the killing.
