Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday stated that the “possibility of militant attack” in the next general election will come down if BNP participates in the polls.
“We are in firm position against the menace of militancy but the threat will decrease significantly if BNP participates in the next general election,” Quader said while talking to reporters at Kabirhat upazila in Noakhali.
“Militancy has not yet been eliminated and they are preparing for a major attack,” Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, expressed his grave concern.
Upholding the party’s religious beliefs, Quader said his government has initiated efforts to build around 560 mosques across the country following the model of Saudi Arabia.
The mosques will be used as a center to practice the religious culture.
