Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad has hoped that the members of search committee will propose the names of acceptable persons to constitute a neutral Election Commission (EC).
He said those at a program in Dhaka on Saturday, marking the joining of Bagerhat BNP leader Mushfiqur Rahman to Jatiya Party.
“I hope that the new Commission will be better than the current EC,” he added.
The JP leader also hoped that a chance for Jatiya Party to return to power can be created if a neutral Election Commission is formed.
“Not only the BNP leader joined my party, many other people are also giving indication to join Jatiya Party. It’s happening because our party has a bright future,” he said.
Mentioning BNP is losing its organizational capacity, he said Awami League and Jatiya Party will contest the next election as two major parties.
Ershad reaffirmed that his party will independently contest the next polls in 300 seats.
To gain attention of people ahead of next general polls, Ershad said he will hold rallies in different districts.
