Bangladesh Chhatra League has decided not to bring out processions and hold rallies in the capital on working days.
Keeping public suffering in mind, it would organise such programmes on weekends — Fridays and Saturdays — from now on.
BCL General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain announced the decision at the organisation’s reunion programme at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Tuesday.
Because of the BCL processions, many commuters experienced traffic jams on city streets.
At the programme, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader suggested the BCL leaders should find out an alternative way to hold processions that didn’t create such public suffering.
He also told the gathering that the PM asked them not to hold any programmes by blocking or obstructing streets.
