A local Juba League activist was hacked to death by rivals at Ramchandrapur in Sariakandi upazila on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Ratan, 33, son of Idris Ali and a local Juba League activist. He used to pull rickshaw for his living.
Witnesses said rivals chopped Ratan at the local Awami League office around 4:30pm following previous enmity, leaving him critically injured.
He was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where he died around 7:30pm.
Enayetur Rahman, inspector (investigation) of Sariakandi police station, said that Ratan might have been killed over previous enmity.
