Government has directed the authority concern to demolish most vulnerable 417 buildings in the capital Dhaka, port city Chittagong, Khulna and Sylhet within December.
Shah Kamal, Secretary for the Ministry of Disaster Management, said this in a press briefing held at Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday. The press briefing was organised on The Disaster Mitigation Day and Earthquake drill.
He said, “There are some 321 most vulnerable buildings in the capital while 24, 40 and 32 risky buildings are reported in Chittagong, Khulna and Sylhet respectively.”
“All these most risky buildings were directed to demolish within December. Directions to stop supplying gas, water and electricity to the buildings have already been issued.”
The most vulnerable building list includes building no. 3 and 4 of Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hosptial, Chittagong Medical College and Hospital and Director General`s office of Bangladesh Fire Service.
