Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the drive in the transport sector will continue until discipline is back in traffic.
He made the announcement while inspecting removal of illegal bumpers of vehicles at Saat Rasta More in Dhaka’s Tejgaon area around 9:45am on Sunday.
The minister said the operation has started to stop ‘sitting service’, remove illegal vehicle bumpers and stop other irregularities.
Quader said, “If owners and the drivers of vehicles go by rules, harassment of passengers will be over. We will work until the sufferings stop.”
The bumper removal drive led by executive magistrate Md Abdus Salam began at Saat Rasta More around 8:00am.
The magistrate fined some drivers for irregularities.
