Don’t tarnish govt, party image

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday called on the party leaders and activists to refrain from making any comment that might tarnish the image of the party and the government.
While addressing a mourning day event at Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in the capital marking the 43rd death anniversary of Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, Quader said that some of the party leaders were making comments embarrassing for the party and the government.
‘You should consider your party position and the responsibilities before making any political comment,’ Quader said at the event organised by Awami Swechchhasebak League.
He also instructed Awami League leaders not to use photographs of Sheikh Mujib and party president Sheikh Hasina in posters and festoons whimsically.
Quader warned that Bangladesh Nationalist Party was trying to create unrests before the general election and hatching various conspiracies. ‘We know everything about BNP’s conspiracies… where and when they were holding meetings both at home and abroad,’ Quader said.
AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said that BNP had lost its organisational ability to wage any movement against the government.
‘So they intruded into student protests and tried to oust the government,’ Hanif said.
Chaired by Swechchhasebak League president Mollah Abu Kausar, the event was also addressed by its general secretary Pankaz Debnath
