Bangladesh marching ahead on development highway: Dr Atiur


RAJSHAHI, Jan 22, 2016 (BSS)- Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman here today said the prosperous Bangladesh is marching forward on the development highway after overcoming the constraints.

He categorically said Bangladesh has attained significant success in economic growth in comparison with many other countries including Pakistan during the last couple of years.

He was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day Diamond Jubilee function and biennial conference of Alumni Association of Department of Economics of Rajshahi University held in its Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium as chief guest.

Member of Parliament Fazley Hossain Badsha spoke as guest of honour with Department Chairman Prof Muhammad Ali in the chair.

RU VC Prof Mijanuddin, Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, thinker in economics Prof Sanat Kumar Shaha and researcher Dr Mustofa Kamal Mujeri also spoke.

Governor Atiur Rahman told the audience that Bangladesh attained 6.51 percent growth in last fiscal and the growth rate will be higher in the current fiscal.

“We will clinch the top position of the prosperous race if tolerance in Bangladesh’s politics is ensured,” Dr Atiur added.
