BNP in political crisis: Hanif


Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif today said BNP has been in political crisis as the party becomes isolated from the people.

“They (BNP) did not do any work for the people after they were boycotted in the ninth National Election. They do nothing but carrying out sabotage and terrorism to save war criminals and to go in state power,” he said.

The Awami League leader said the people want such a government which would develop the country and the incumbent government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working earnestly to meet the people’s expectations.

Hanif said this at Awami League president’s office at Dhanmondi here while announcing the nominated party candidates’ names for the second-phase Union Parishad election in 672 unions.

Earlier, Election Commission announced schedule for 684 unions and later it postponed election in 12 unions.

For the third-phase polls, Hanif requested the concerned to send lists of candidates by March 8.

Awami League leaders Dr Dipu Moni, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Misbah Uddin Siraj, Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dablu, Advocate Afjal Hossain, Sujit Roy Nandi and Aminul Islam Amin, among others, were present on the occasion.

Earlier, a meeting was held at the AL president’s political office with Awami League Presidium Member and Nomination Board Member Obaidul Quader in the chair.
