Another birthday rape in city’s Banani

A businessman’s son has been accused of raping a woman who had responded to his birthday party invitation in Banani, just months after the rapes at The Raintree hotel.

The accused, Bahauddin Evan, 28, is the son of one Borhanuddin, who owns a market in the upscale area.

Police are looking for the 28-year old after the alleged victim, a TV actress, started a case on Wednesday.

In the case filed with Banani Police Station last night, the 21-year-old girl said she met Evan on Facebook around 11 months ago, and they later started dating.

“Evan called me around 9:00pm on Tuesday. He said it was his birthday and invited me to his Banani house on Road-2,” the girl mentioned in the first information report (FIR).

“He further said he wanted to introduce me to his mother and tell her about our relationship. A woman talked to me over the phone, introducing herself as his mother. I thought she really was his mother,” she added.

She reached Evan house around 10:30pm.

In the FIR, she further went on to say, “When I went there I saw no one at his house. He took me to his room. When I asked about his mother, he said his parents were unwell and they were asleep.”

“When I did not see any sign of a birthday party, I got scared and wanted to go back home but he did not let me go,” she said.

She added that Evan then made her have dinner and some “drugs”. When she tried to resist, he assured her that the drugs wouldn’t harm her.

“Around 1:30am, he raped me in his room and when I started screaming, he drove me out of his house but kept my handbag.

The accused had allegedly also raped the victim earlier, making promises of marriage.

The woman came to the police station early on Thursday and informed the law enforcers about the matter.

She initiated the case later after consulting her relatives, police sources said, adding that a drive has been launched to arrest Evan after the woman filed a written complaint.

Evan could not be arrested until midnight.

The woman has been kept in the police’s Victim Support Centre and her medical test will be conducted on Thursday.
