The 85th birthday of noted journalist ABM Musa was observed here in a befitting manner today.
The ABM Musa-Setara Musa Foundation organized a discussion at the National Press Club, where senior journalists, including Musa’s longtime colleagues, spoke on the colourful and versatile life of the journalist who died on April 9, 2014 due to old-age complications.
Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, journalist Kamal Lohani, Jatiya Press Club Secretary General Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Former Principal Information Officer Abdur Rahim, and Senior Journalist Mahfuz Ullah, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Born in 1931, ABM Musa had a long 64 years of journalistic career and served many media houses including The Daily Insaf, The Pakistan Observer, The Daily Sangbad, The Morning News and The Daily Jugantor.
He was also the director general of Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) and Bangladesh Television as well as the Chief Editor and Managing Director of BSS.
Aside from his media career, he also served as the UNESCAP director and got elected as Member of Parliament (MP). He was also President and General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club for several times.
The senior journalists recalled the great memories of journalist Musa and said the new generation could learn a lot from his long journalistic career. They also prayed for the eternal peace of journalist ABM Musa.
