About 500 leaders and activists of BNP have been sued over explosions and vandalism in Keraniganj following the verdict in the Aug 21 grenade attack case.

According to the case filed by police, the BNP men were involved in violation at Jagannathpur in Hazratpur union and Manu Beparir Dhal in Jinjira union on Wednesday.

The BNP activists gathered in Jagannathpur and Manu Beparir Dhal area demanding the release of Khaleda Zia and the withdrawal of the case against her son Tarique Rahman and blasted handmade bombs and vandalised cars, said the case statement.

In one case, SI Anwar Hossain of Kalatia Police Post brought charges against 209 persons in a case that also mentions 150 unidentified BNP leaders and activists while SI Md Farhad Hossain of Keraniganj Model Police Station filed a case against 49 BNP leaders and activists along with 100 others unnamed.

However, no-one has been arrested over the cases as of Wednesday, said police.
