Conjoined twins — Rabeya Islam and Rokeya Islam – have been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the city for their separation through a surgery.

Rabeya and Rokeya, one-year children of Rafiqul Islam hailing from Akhlanka village in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna district, were taken to the hospital on July 27.

“Doctors at the hospital, led by the Chairman of its Paediatric Surgery department Prof Md Ruhul Amin, are supervising my daughters,” Rafiqul said on Sunday.

Rafiqul, who is a primary schoolteacher, also said a medical board will sit on Monday for taking decision on conducting operation to separate the twins.

He also sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s help in this regard.

Earlier, the parents of the twins came to the BSMMU after five days of their birth to seek medical help.
