Dhaka Dynamites survived the eliminator match by defeating Chittagong Vikings on Monday where an early blitz from Sunil Narine set up the chase for Dhaka. Dhaka were the clear favourites in the match after restricting Chittagong for a below-par 135-8 in their stipulated overs. But the chase was more difficult then it seemed on the surface as Dhaka had previously fallen short by one run while chasing a target of 128 against Comilla Victorians in the same venue on Friday. This recent failure alongside the added pressure of playing a must-win match made this chase against a potent bowling attack quite a tricky one. Dhaka desperately needed some momentum from their top-order and Narine once again rose to the occasion. Much like his blistering innings against Khulna Titans in Dhaka’s last league-stage match, Narine struck a quick-fire 31 off 16 balls with six fours and a solitary six to take his team to 44-0 in 4.2 overs. Narine perished in the next ball of the over, but his early flurry gave Dhaka the momentum they required to win the match.
