Six people were found dead on the Cox’s Bazar sea beach and inside the wreckage of a fishing boat on Wednesday morning.
Police, however, could not identify the bodies found near Sea Gull hotel.
Police also rescued two seriously injured fishermen from the beach near Saibal hotel in the morning.
The fishermen — Monir and Jewel, told police that they were fishermen of the damaged fishing boat from Bhola.
The fishermen said there were 15 fishermen on board.
They went out fishing on the coast of the Bay of Bangle on July 7.
But the sea was rough and there was a storm, said the fishermen.
The mighty surge capsized the boat and took them to the shore in the morning.
Khairuzzaman, inspector (investigation) of Sadar Model police station, said that on information a team of police went to the beach and rescued the two fishermen at 4:00am and sent the bodies of their fellows to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue at 8:00am.
Police suspected that all the victims were fishermen and might have died after their boat capsized due to the storm.
Police said they were communicating with the Bhola police.
The rescued fishermen are now under treatment at Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital.
