Natyadhara to stage Ayana Bibir Pala in India

Theatre troupe Natyadhara will stage Ayna Bibir Pala in two festivals in Kolkata, India.
The troupe will stage the play today at Epar Bangla Opar Bangla Utsab while another show will be staged at Dokkhinesshar Natyautsab.
The play, dramatised and directed by Robiul Alam, is an adaptation of a pala from the well-known Mymensingh Geetika, and depicts how the society handed out cruelty and inhumanity to women, and how reluctant it had been in addressing women’s sorrows and sufferings.
As an orphan, Ayna was brought up by her maternal uncle like a free, flying bird amid joy. But once she is married, her chastity is questioned by the society. Her husband, Uzzal, to her great dismay, sides with the society and leaves Ayna to find another wife.
Besides, the troupe will premiere a street play titled ‘Tik Tok’ at Epar Bangla Opar Bangla Utsab.
The play has been adapted and directed by Litu Shakawat.
Litu Shakawat, Dipandita, Gazi Rahisul Islam Tomal, Kamal Hossain, Hafsa Akter, Chandarina Geeti and others will act in the street play.
