Bangladeshi dancer performs in Germany

Tahnun Ahmedy currently resides as guest member at the dance company of the Tanztheater Bremen, Germany.

‘For me as a young choreographer and dancer, the stay in Bremen offers many new possibilities. It was very exciting to perform in front of a German audience in a theatre with a long dance theatre tradition,’ said Ahmedy after the performance.

Ahmedy, who got training in Shadhona, is visiting Germany under the ‘Young Choreographers’ Platform’, which is supported by Goethe-Institut Bangladesh.

The platform was launched by Goethe-Institut Bangladesh in 2016 to promote young and talented Bangladeshi choreographers and dancers.

His time in Bremen comes at the beginning of the new theatre and dance season under Bremen Theater’s lead choreographer Samir Akika. For three weeks, starting from last week, Tahnun Ahmedy is joining all training sessions and rehearsals. During his remaining weeks in Germany, Tahnun will continue to train with the Tanztheater Bremen’s dance company, and also assist his mentor Tom Bünger, dancer and choreographer of the TanzKollektivBremen and repeatedly teacher and mentor at the ‘Young Choreographers’ Platform’ in Bangladesh.
